Description:
As it has already done with its flagship smartphone line, it looks like Samsung has given its tablets a touch of class as well, starting with the metal-clad Galaxy Tab A 9.7. Interestingly, this business-oriented device is also the first Android tablet that can run Microsoft Office apps (yes, Microsoft and Samsung are friends now). Another first for Samsung in this tablet is its squarer (4:3) display, marking the company's departure from the usual 16:10 screen aspect ratio, which should make this device more suitable for viewing web pages and editing Office documents such as Word and Excel. Unfortunately, the rest of the specs are quite underwhelming. We can get by with the quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1.5GB RAM, and 16GB memory, but what killed our enthusiasm was the 1024- x 768-pixel screen that results in an embarrassing pixel count of 132dpi. Is Samsung trying to monetize its stockpile of unused low-resolution display panels from 2010? For its mid-range price tag, we don't even want to know.
